Artist's Statement

Motivated by the profound social and political unrest that swept across the United States in the summer of 2020, RockwellB creates bold, intellectually charged paintings that confront the complexities of American history and democracy. Rooted at the intersection of history, politics, justice, and visual art, the works give voice to the contradictions and aspirations of a nation in flux.

Through an ambitious collection of original acrylic paintings, RockwellB takes creative risks to illuminate the evolving narrative of America. The paintings both celebrate and critique: some paintings extol the courage and integrity of individuals who have defended democratic values, while others expose the failures of institutions and the abuses of power by those entrusted with public trust.

RockwellB's distinctive narrative style—balancing between caricature and fine art—serves as a visual language that simplifies and distills complex social and political realities. This signature approach results in works that are as visually compelling as they are thought-provoking. The paintings do more than document; they preserve. In an era where history is increasingly contested, rewritten, or erased, RockwellB’s art stands as a testament to truth, memory, and civic engagement.

These works are not only a reflection of their time—they are catalysts for dialogue and education. By confronting difficult truths and highlighting shared ideals, RockwellB’s art fosters understanding among Americans from all walks of life. In so doing, these panels should remain visible and accessible to the public so that they may inspire viewers to appreciate that America's democracy and Constitution are fragile and worth defending for future generations.
